Originally by: Nicho Void To the candidates: IMO, your candidacy would gather a great deal of relevance if (on your webpages/blogs) you supplied a list of hot button issue threads in which you have posted your views. Preferably threads showing a history of your involvement with the community. I know I would find such things helpful in my decision making.
This, big time. I went to each candidate's website, read all the material, and what did I get? Mostly a lot of political speak about idealism, generic, sweeping terms and calls for "improvement," a bit of personal background info, and claims to "listen to the people." Very few candidates actually offered a concrete list of issues they intended to address at the CSM and their personal position on those issues. You want my vote? You had better give some idea on what you plan to do with the position once you get it. Broad generalizations on "making things better" aren't going to cut it. Give us details, I wan't to know your position. If you don't have a position, why should we even consider voting for you? If you're not informed about the current issues in EVE now, why should we think you will be later? Showing a solid position on issues tells us you are serious about this. All the grandstanding in the world won't make up for a lack of perspective and knowledge. You've essentially got 3 days with CCP to make a difference, you had better have some sort of action plan to pull this off right.
For those few candidates who did take the time to post their priority issues and positions, thank you for this vital information. With that I am able to easily tell whose ideas I agree with, and whose I do not.
As for the candidates list, only 11? I'm sure there's a few others out there, but still, if 9 of them are going to CSM, at this point it won't matter a whole lot who anyone votes for, they'll nearly all win by default! Here's hoping for a larger field of candidates soon, or else maybe the vote would be more effective if CCP let us choose who not to send.
